A Word From the Pastor (July 2007) Dear Friends in Christ, The apostle Paul writes "And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him." (Colossians 3:17) Think of it. Every word we speak is to reflect the love of Jesus. Every action we take is to give honor to God. All that we say and do is to express our gratitude for the Lord's grace and goodness in our lives. In these summer months, God's goodness is self-evident. The beauty of nature surrounds us. Time with family and friends restores our spirits. For many, life adopts a less frantic pace, giving us time to relax and enjoy God's gifts. Summer is a wonderful season to be renewed and refreshed, to reconnect with the source of all life. However, scripture tells us that we are "Blessed to be a blessing." The gifts of summer that lift our spirits are given so that we might be rejuvenated in our walk with Christ. The rest, the relaxation, the reconnection with nature and loved ones, these blessings are given to empower us for more faithful living. As we embrace the pleasant surprises of summer, may we be renewed in our walk with Christ. Whether working or playing, reading or thinking, worshiping or serving, whatever we do, whatever we say, may it all be for the sake of Jesus with gratitude for God's abundant love. Yours in Christ, |
